DESCRIPTION:<p>Fifth Annual Point Arena Almost Fringe Festival<br>Point Arena, Saturday, April 20, 2024 ~ 10am-7pm<br>From 10-7pm, downtown Point Arena, the Cove, the Lighthouse, and beyond.</p><p>The Library will be offering:</p><p><ul>    <li>a blackout poetry activity</li></ul><div>Blackout poetry is a fun and challenging way to write a poem using old book pages. Instead of coming up with words, you black out the ones you don't want until you have the phrases that become a poem.</div><div></div><ul>    <li>play a Theremini</li></ul><div>A Theremini is a creation by Moog, re-imagining the Theremin. The Theremin is an instrument that allows one to make&nbsp;sounds with an electromagnetic field. It's that wooooo sound that's heard a lot in old Science Fiction films. The Theremini is an easier version to play, with an assistive pitch correction so anyone, regardless of experience, can create electronic songs. Plus, it's lots of fun.</div><div></div><ul>    <li>use music to be inspired to paint an abstract expressionist art piece</li></ul><div>Abstract Expressionism is a spontaneous, flowing, subconscious-driven painting technique—think Jackson Pollock, de Kooning, and Rothko. By using the music as a jumping-off point, we will create our Abstract Expressionist paintings on canvas.</div><div></div><ul>    <li>sidewalk chalk art</li></ul><div>Create a colorful welcome for those coming into the library with sidewalk chalk art.</div></p>
